Au sommet de cette hi\u00e9rarchie tr\u00f4ne la peinture mythologique, la peinture d\u2019histoire, qui tient depuis toujours la premi\u00e8re place. Mais, au milieu du XIXe si\u00e8cle, des ateliers priv\u00e9s \u00e9mergent. Elle commente <em>Les Romains de la d\u00e9cadence <\/em>(1847), repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e ci-dessus, pour illustrer cette cat\u00e9gorie, \u00e0 la crois\u00e9e des chemins des ma\u00eetres de la Gr\u00e8ce antique, de la Renaissance et de l&rsquo;\u00e9cole flamande. L\u2019Art pompier est une sorte de repr\u00e9sentation all\u00e9gorique r\u00e9aliste dont le but, dans cette toile, est d\u2019adresser au second degr\u00e9 une vive critique \u00e0 la Monarchie de Juillet. Couture vise en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 fran\u00e7aise de son temps, au travers d\u2019une sorte d\u2019all\u00e9gorie. Profond\u00e9ment jacobin, r\u00e9publicain et anticl\u00e9rical, il vise la d\u00e9cadence morale de la France discr\u00e9dit\u00e9e par une s\u00e9rie de scandales. Les critiques d&rsquo;art du salon de 1847 voyaient finalement dans ces Romains \u00ab\u00a0<em>Les Fran\u00e7ais de la d\u00e9cadence<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Le salon des refus\u00e9s<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le Salon de peinture et de sculpture, appel\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rique le Salon, est une manifestation artistique qui a eu lieu \u00e0 Paris de la fin du&nbsp;XVIIe&nbsp;si\u00e8cle \u00e0 1880. Il exposait les \u0153uvres des artistes agr\u00e9\u00e9s originellement par l&rsquo;Acad\u00e9mie royale de peinture et de sculpture&nbsp;cr\u00e9\u00e9e par&nbsp;Mazarin, puis par l&rsquo;Acad\u00e9mie des beaux-arts, \u00e0 partir de 1817. \u00c0 partir de 1832, le Salon devient annuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sceaux-lagazette.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Gustave_courbet_paesaggio_innevato_1868_b.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9159\" width=\"588\" height=\"406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sceaux-lagazette.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Gustave_courbet_paesaggio_innevato_1868_b.jpg 320w, https:\/\/sceaux-lagazette.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Gustave_courbet_paesaggio_innevato_1868_b-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 588px) 100vw, 588px\" \/><figcaption>Gustave Courbet  Paysage d&rsquo;hiver (1863)       Cr\u00e9dit : Wikim\u00e9dia Commons<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1855, le Salon se confond avec l&rsquo;Exposition universelle.&nbsp; Gustave Courbet, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 refus\u00e9 au pavillon fran\u00e7ais, se singularise en exposant ses \u0153uvres au \u00ab\u00a0pavillon du R\u00e9alisme\u00a0\u00bb, en marge de l&rsquo;exposition officielle. En 1863, 5000 \u0153uvres sont soumises au jury du Salon qui en refuse 3000. Devant la col\u00e8re exprim\u00e9e par les nombreux artistes frustr\u00e9s, Napol\u00e9on III demande qu&rsquo;ils soient expos\u00e9s : ce sera le Salon des refus\u00e9s. Son verbe haut et ses convictions sont inversement proportionnels \u00e0 son modeste gabarit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rosa Bonheur revendique un profond amour des animaux. En 1894, elle sera aussi la premi\u00e8re femme \u00e0 \u00eatre promue officier de la L\u00e9gion d&rsquo;honneur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pascale Lespinasse passe par <em>les Glaneuses <\/em>de Millet, all\u00e9gorie sur le courage paysan, pour arriver au <em>March\u00e9 aux Chevaux<\/em> (1853), repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 ci-apr\u00e8s, qui est une toile gigantesque de dimensions habituellement r\u00e9serv\u00e9es aux peintures d\u2019histoire. Le stress des chevaux, la domination de l\u2019animal par l\u2019homme, la souffrance animale sont rendus visibles par l\u2019artiste avec une force et une sensibilit\u00e9 impressionnantes. La toile est d\u2019une composition complexe. Elle est construite comme une sorte de ronde sans fin, les chevaux \u00e9tant pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s au public en accomplissant une boucle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure nous indique que c\u2019est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment au moment o\u00f9 Rosa Bonheur produit des toiles de bovins d\u2019un r\u00e9alisme saisissant que plusieurs races voient leurs caract\u00e9ristiques fix\u00e9es d\u00e9finitivement&nbsp;: les liens inattendus entre \u00e9levage et art pictural\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elle nous indique qu\u2019avec sa toile <em>Fenaison en Auvergne<\/em> qui sera pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019exposition universelle de 1855 que Rosa Bonheur souhaite saluer et flatter l\u2019\u00e9lectorat paysan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large voyageuse, femme d\u2019exception, ind\u00e9pendante qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 capable de d\u00e9crocher un permis de travestissement pour pouvoir courir les foires et abattoirs en pantalon&nbsp;!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elle ach\u00e8tera m\u00eame le Ch\u00e2teau By-Thomery&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Un Courbet qui n&rsquo;est pas en reste par rapport \u00e0 sa coll\u00e8gue f\u00e9minine<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gustave Courbet fera son premier Salon en 1844&nbsp;: Pascale Lespinasse nous invite \u00e0 appr\u00e9cier les diff\u00e9rentes facettes du talent de Courbet en pr\u00e9sentant et commentant une s\u00e9rie d\u2019\u0153uvres toutes pass\u00e9es \u00e0 la post\u00e9rit\u00e9 picturale&nbsp;: le <em>Pont de Nahin<\/em> (1837), <em>Autoportrait<\/em> de 1845, le <em>chien noir <\/em>(1844), le <em>D\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9<\/em> (visible en t\u00eate de l\u2019article), l\u2019<em>Homme bless\u00e9 <\/em>(1854), l\u2019<em>Homme \u00e0 la pipe grand format, traditionnellement r\u00e9serv\u00e9 d\u2019histoire, comme Rosa Bonheur le fit pour son <em>March\u00e9 aux Chevaux<\/em> quatre ans plus tard\u2026Cette toile fera son succ\u00e8s au Commons<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Entre 1848 et 1850, il peindra son deuxi\u00e8me tr\u00e8s grand succ\u00e8s, l\u2019<em>enterrement \u00e0 Ornans <\/em>qu\u2019il compose comme une vraie peinture d\u2019histoire alors qu\u2019il ne s\u2019agit que d\u2019une sc\u00e8ne de vie provinciale ordinaire.
