{"id":46224,"date":"2026-05-28T08:30:55","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T06:30:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sceaux-lagazette.fr\/?p=46224"},"modified":"2026-05-27T20:18:30","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T18:18:30","slug":"sarah-rhea-egerie-de-la-danse-orientale-et-tzigane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sceaux-lagazette.fr\/index.php\/2026\/05\/28\/sarah-rhea-egerie-de-la-danse-orientale-et-tzigane\/","title":{"rendered":"Sarah Rhea, \u00e9g\u00e9rie de la danse orientale et tzigane"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u00c0 l\u2019occasion du Festival des Danses et Musiques Ouvertes de Fontenay-aux-Roses, le 31 mai \u00e0 19h, Sarah Rhea pr\u00e9sente son dernier spectacle, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EXzFaE-lHcM\"><strong><em>Nesma Nilea<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em> \u2013 Brise du Nil<\/em><\/strong>, accompagn\u00e9e de son collectif \u00e0 la Maison de la Musique et de la Danse \u2013 Auditorium Jacques Demy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sortir des cadres<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/sarahrheadanse\/\">Sarah Rhea<\/a>, danseuse orientale et tsigane, professeure, chor\u00e9graphe mais aussi historienne de formation, construit depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es un parcours singulier o\u00f9 l\u2019exigence intellectuelle rencontre une sensibilit\u00e9 profond\u00e9ment instinctive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quand elle entre sur sc\u00e8ne, quelque chose se transforme imm\u00e9diatement. Son corps ne cherche ni l\u2019effet spectaculaire ni la performance d\u00e9monstrative. Il raconte. Il convoque des paysages, des souvenirs, des musiques entendues dans l\u2019enfance. Il fait surgir une \u00c9gypte intime, travers\u00e9e par les chants d\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oum_Kalthoum\"><strong>Oum Kalthoum<\/strong><\/a>, les grandes figures du cin\u00e9ma arabe et les rythmes populaires du Nil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pourtant, rien ne semblait la destiner \u00e0 cette voie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Avant la danse orientale, il y a d\u2019abord eu le classique. Tr\u00e8s jeune, Sarah Rhea suit un cursus au conservatoire puis \u00e0 <a href=\"https:\/\/institut-stanlowa.com\/\"><strong>l&rsquo;institut Janine Stanlowa<\/strong><\/a>. Son corps apprend la discipline, la pr\u00e9cision, l\u2019endurance. Mais \u00e0 l\u2019adolescence, elle ressent d\u00e9j\u00e0 le besoin de sortir des cadres impos\u00e9s. Elle explore alors d\u2019autres univers : danse moderne, jazz, hip-hop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parall\u00e8lement, elle grandit dans un environnement culturellement riche. Sa m\u00e8re voyage beaucoup, les musiques venues d\u2019ailleurs circulent \u00e0 la maison, les mercredis se passent souvent dans les mus\u00e9es. Sans le savoir encore, cet univers nourrit d\u00e9j\u00e0 son imaginaire artistique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Le coup de foudre<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Apr\u00e8s un baccalaur\u00e9at scientifique, elle tente une formation professionnelle au centre chor\u00e9graphique <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/rickodums\/\"><strong>Rick Odums<\/strong><\/a>. L\u2019exp\u00e9rience est intense, mais r\u00e9v\u00e8le aussi les exigences parfois brutales du milieu de la danse. Elle finit par quitter cette voie et entreprend des \u00e9tudes d\u2019histoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pourtant, la danse continue de l\u2019habiter. Puis survient la rencontre d\u00e9cisive. Un jour, presque par hasard, elle d\u00e9couvre un cours de danse orientale dirig\u00e9 par <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/assiaguemra_danse\/\"><strong>Assia Guemra<\/strong><\/a>. Le choc est imm\u00e9diat. \u00ab <em>Un coup de foudre<\/em> \u00bb, dira-t-elle plus tard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 travers cette danse, elle retrouve soudain tout un univers enfoui dans sa m\u00e9moire sensorielle : les chansons d\u2019Oum Kalthoum \u00e9cout\u00e9es dans l\u2019enfance, les films \u00e9gyptiens, les grandes danseuses comme <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Samia_Gamal\"><strong>Samia Gamal<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La danse orientale lui offre un espace d\u2019expression qu\u2019elle n\u2019avait encore jamais trouv\u00e9 ailleurs. Elle y d\u00e9couvre une relation diff\u00e9rente au corps : plus organique, plus \u00e9motionnelle, plus int\u00e9rieure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transmettre tout en cr\u00e9ant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tr\u00e8s vite, Sarah Rhea se forme aupr\u00e8s de plusieurs professeurs \u00e9gyptiens, notamment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/drgamalseif\/\"><strong>Gamel Seif<\/strong><\/a>. Ces apprentissages approfondissent sa compr\u00e9hension du mouvement comme langage \u00e9motionnel. \u00ab <em>Il m\u2019a fait comprendre ce qu\u2019exprimait r\u00e9ellement la danse<\/em> \u00bb, explique-t-elle. \u00c0 partir de l\u00e0, la danse cesse d\u2019\u00eatre une passion. Elle devient une v\u00e9ritable voie artistique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarah Rhea continue d\u2019enseigner l\u2019histoire tout en d\u00e9veloppant parall\u00e8lement son activit\u00e9 de danseuse. Peu \u00e0 peu arrivent les premiers spectacles, les premi\u00e8res sc\u00e8nes, les premi\u00e8res collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aujourd\u2019hui, elle revendique une esth\u00e9tique hybride. Son travail m\u00eale les influences orientales, tsiganes et contemporaines. Elle parle souvent des passerelles qui existent entre les musiques \u00e9gyptiennes et tsiganes : des sensibilit\u00e9s communes, une m\u00eame intensit\u00e9 \u00e9motionnelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sa danse repose moins sur la virtuosit\u00e9 technique que sur la circulation des sensations. Le mot qui revient souvent dans sa bouche est celui de \u00ab <em>tarab<\/em> \u00bb. Dans la culture arabe, il d\u00e9signe un \u00e9tat d\u2019extase \u00e9motionnelle provoqu\u00e9 par la musique. C\u2019est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment cela qu\u2019elle cherche sur sc\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Danser pour \u00e9mouvoir plut\u00f4t que s\u00e9duire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Quand elle danse, Sarah Rhea observe les regards, s\u2019attache parfois \u00e0 un visage dans le public, construit un dialogue silencieux. \u00ab <em>Je cherche les yeux<\/em> \u00bb, dit-elle. Cette relation sensible au public nourrit toute sa pr\u00e9sence sc\u00e9nique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sa r\u00e9flexion sur la f\u00e9minit\u00e9 participe \u00e9galement de cette d\u00e9marche. La danse orientale souffre encore de nombreux clich\u00e9s, \u00ab&nbsp;la danse du ventre&nbsp;\u00bb souvent r\u00e9duite \u00e0 une image caricaturale ou sexualis\u00e9e. Son m\u00e9moire universitaire portait sur l\u2019histoire compar\u00e9e de la danse m\u00e9di\u00e9vale en Orient et en Occident. Elle y \u00e9tudiait notamment la place du bassin dans les traditions chor\u00e9graphiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selon elle, le ballet occidental a progressivement construit un corps vertical, tendu et contr\u00f4l\u00e9, alors que les danses orientales maintiennent une relation plus organique au mouvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Azbakiyya, un voyage au fil du Nil<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette r\u00e9flexion se retrouve jusque dans son enseignement. Professeure au <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caelmjc.com\/\"><strong>CAEL<\/strong><\/a> de Bourg-la-Reine et dans plusieurs structures culturelles, elle accueille des \u00e9l\u00e8ves de tous \u00e2ges, de toutes origines. Parmi elles, Colette, 80 ans, ancienne danseuse classique devenue passionn\u00e9e de danse orientale. Pour Sarah Rhea, cette danse poss\u00e8de justement la force rare d\u2019\u00eatre accessible \u00e0 presque tous les corps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depuis deux ans, son parcours prend aussi une dimension collective avec la cr\u00e9ation du collectif <strong>Azbakiyya<\/strong>. Aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s du joueur de ney (fl\u00fbte en roseau) John Samy Megalaa, de la musicienne Mervat Adly Henein et du musicien Julien Coulon, elle d\u00e9veloppe un univers inspir\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00c9gypte et de ses imaginaires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le spectacle <em>Nesma Nilea \u2013 Brise du Nil<\/em>&nbsp; en constitue aujourd\u2019hui l\u2019expression la plus aboutie. Pens\u00e9 comme un voyage artistique le long du Nil, il traverse diff\u00e9rentes r\u00e9gions, diff\u00e9rentes musiques, diff\u00e9rentes atmosph\u00e8res. Sarah Rhea s\u2019inspire des grandes actrices-danseuses des ann\u00e9es quarante \u00e0 soixante-dix qui ont profond\u00e9ment modernis\u00e9 la danse orientale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quand elle \u00e9voque Oum Kalthoum, sa voix ralentit l\u00e9g\u00e8rement. Elle parle des longues introductions musicales, de l\u2019attente avant l\u2019entr\u00e9e du chant, de ce moment pr\u00e9cis o\u00f9 surgit enfin le \u00ab ya habibi \u00bb. \u00ab <em>\u00c7a me touche \u00e0 chaque fois <\/em>\u00bb, confie-t-elle. Cette \u00e9motion intacte r\u00e9sume sans doute le fil secret de son travail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La danse n\u2019est pas une d\u00e9monstration vide<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Chez Sarah Rhea, la danse demeure li\u00e9e \u00e0 une m\u00e9moire affective, \u00e0 des images int\u00e9rieures, \u00e0 une circulation d\u2019\u00e9motions profond\u00e9ment v\u00e9cues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00eame l\u2019improvisation occupe une place essentielle dans son approche. \u00ab <em>C\u2019est ce que je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re <\/em>\u00bb, explique-t-elle. Au c\u0153ur de ses performances subsiste toujours un espace de libert\u00e9, un moment o\u00f9 le corps \u00e9coute la musique au pr\u00e9sent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aujourd\u2019hui, Sarah Rhea continue de transmettre en sc\u00e8ne son art, de d\u00e9velopper ses cr\u00e9ations et de faire circuler <em>Nesma Nilea<\/em> dans diff\u00e9rents festivals et lieux culturels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 travers son travail, elle poursuit une ambition discr\u00e8te mais profonde : offrir une autre image des cultures orientales, loin des clich\u00e9s, en r\u00e9v\u00e9lant leur richesse artistique et leur puissance \u00e9motionnelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Et juste avant d\u2019entrer sur sc\u00e8ne, malgr\u00e9 les ann\u00e9es d\u2019exp\u00e9rience, elle accomplit toujours le m\u00eame geste int\u00e9rieur.
