C\u2019est un r\u00e9cit d\u2019aventures, \u00e0 la crois\u00e9e du merveilleux, de l\u2019\u00e9motion et du r\u00e9alisme. Il s\u2019adresse \u00e0 un public adolescent d\u00e8s 15 ans, mais aussi \u00e0 tous les lecteurs en qu\u00eate de personnages bien camp\u00e9s et de mondes fantastiques. Id\u00e9al pour les vacances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Une paix fragile s\u00e9pare deux empires imaginaires, la Finkadie et l\u2019Archipel. Mathilde,&nbsp;l\u2019h\u00e9ro\u00efne, r\u00eave de devenir musicienne. Mais son avenir est boulevers\u00e9 lorsqu\u2019elle est d\u00e9clar\u00e9e compatible avec un sylphe, entit\u00e9 magique, puissante et surtout myst\u00e9rieuse. Envoy\u00e9e de force au Collegium, une \u00e9cole militaire d\u2019\u00e9lite de l\u2019Archipel, elle devra trouver sa place entre rivalit\u00e9s, amiti\u00e9s et exigences, sans jamais se renier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flavie Bertrand a voulu une Mathilde loin de l\u2019arch\u00e9type de la guerri\u00e8re invincible. Prise dans les intrigues et les machinations, elle se r\u00e9v\u00e8le ing\u00e9nieuse, mais aussi intuitive, musicienne, sensible, parfois aveugl\u00e9e par ses convictions. Ces nuances la rendent attachante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Autour d\u2019elle, des personnages comme Galis se d\u00e9tachent par leur profondeur. Flavie Bertrand confie que certains se sont impos\u00e9s \u00e0 elle au fil de l\u2019\u00e9criture, gagnant en \u00e9paisseur au-del\u00e0 de ce qu\u2019elle avait pr\u00e9vu. L\u2019\u00e9volution des personnages prime sur le plan initial : ils vivent, changent, parfois \u00e0 son insu. Flavie Bertrand reconna\u00eet volontiers qu\u2019elle se laisse guider par ses personnages. Et Galis a \u00e9volu\u00e9 bien au-del\u00e0 de ce qu\u2019elle imaginait : \u201c<em>Il est devenu plus humain, plus nuanc\u00e9, presque \u00e0 son insu.<\/em>\u201d L\u2019\u00e9criture se nourrit de ces \u00e9volutions, loin d\u2019un plan rigide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un livre issu d\u2019un r\u00eave<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Avec <em>La M\u00e9moire des Sylphes<\/em>, Flavie Bertrand a voulu \u00e9crire le roman qu\u2019elle aurait aim\u00e9 lire \u00e0 quinze ans. Une histoire sans clich\u00e9s, sans romance forc\u00e9e, riche en rebondissements, en aventures, en r\u00e9flexions sur soi et sur les autres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elle pr\u00e9sente son livre comme un projet profond\u00e9ment personnel : il refl\u00e8te ses go\u00fbts, ses valeurs, son amour pour les r\u00e9cits d\u2019initiation et son besoin d\u2019un imaginaire o\u00f9 \u00e9voluent des personnages forts. Loin d\u2019un manifeste ou d\u2019un simple divertissement, elle cherche \u00e0 faire r\u00eaver sans fuir les questionnements intimes : la l\u00e9gitimit\u00e9, la solitude, la loyaut\u00e9, la pression sociale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019univers, lui, issu d\u2019un r\u00eave, \u00e9tait en partie d\u00e9fini d\u00e8s le d\u00e9part : les dynamiques politiques et sociales \u00e9taient pos\u00e9es, mais la g\u00e9ographie s\u2019est construite au fil des pages. Le c\u0153ur de la trilogie \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 l\u00e0, en germe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce premier roman est illustr\u00e9 par Flavie Bertrand elle-m\u00eame. Passionn\u00e9e de dessin, elle n\u2019avait pas pr\u00e9vu d\u2019endosser ce r\u00f4le, mais l\u2019a accept\u00e9 \u00e0 la demande de son \u00e9ditrice. \u201c<em>C\u2019\u00e9tait intimidant, j\u2019avais peur que \u00e7a fasse trop amateur<\/em>\u201d, avoue-t-elle. Le r\u00e9sultat, obtenu avec l\u2019aide de son fr\u00e8re, entre sensibilit\u00e9 artistique et exigence technique, donne une force visuelle \u00e0 l\u2019histoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elle travaille en alternant croquis et sc\u00e8nes imagin\u00e9es. Son regard d\u2019illustratrice influence directement sa mani\u00e8re d\u2019\u00e9crire : elle voit les personnages, leurs mouvements. Elle transcrit leur \u00e9volution int\u00e9rieure dans leur apparence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>Je voulais un roman qui fasse r\u00eaver, <\/em>dit Flavie Bertrand<em>. Pas un livre barre de chocolat qu\u2019on aime, mais dont on ne tire rien, sans pour autant \u00e9crire un manifeste de psychologie. Je voulais que les lecteurs se laissent emporter.<\/em>\u201d Pourtant, certains th\u00e8mes sont creus\u00e9s : qu\u00eate de l\u00e9gitimit\u00e9, n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de choisir, solitude, pression sociale, tensions politiques, loyaut\u00e9.
